Five to...

So tomorrow is Jesus's birthday. I'm pretty annoyed with myself that I didn't research how old he'd be tomorrow. Well I might need to go through a series of sources and get an aggregate, because it all depends on who's telling the story.

So it's five to Christmas o'clock. My goodness!! We're here already! I absolutely cannot believe it.

I'd love one of these prints okay all of them from here

So what do I want for Christmas I got asked today (bit late if you ask me!!). Funny I really don't know. I do want a special gift from the heart.Honestly I could get a box of Smarties wrapped to perfection, a great fabric, a hand written letter, a little piece of art, just something special that says me. Not an extension of the giver, but rather a reflection that they thought of ME! Anyway I'll see tomorrow what awaits me under the tree. Yay!

Holiday ice cubes - so festive

What I did not expect to get for Christmas this year was;

  • To be one long, painful week into a break up (sure impacts one's level of Christmas cheer)
  • To be so exhausted and minus my usual Christmas cheer
  • To be caught up in last minute mall madness - having started my Christmas shopping in June of this year, this was completely unacceptable.

But it's Christmas and this Christmas in particular I do realise that there is so much to be grateful for. So here is my Christmas wishlist for you, on this beautiful night before Christmas on all our streets:

May you;
  • Fall in love - madly in love, with yourself and then with someone else
  • Be open to falling for a stranger, they might be one of the best people you meet, someone who gets you
  • May you tell the full, unabated truth, because you should
  • May you forgive quickly and know that you may never forget
  • May you get lots of cuddles from those you love
  • Cuddle them harder when they annoy you more
  • May you reach out instead of hiding in your safe hole when a loved one has hurt you
  • TALK - say it loud and be proud - tell each other how you feel
  • May you realise how precious love is - how precious it is to love and be loved
  • May you choose your battles wisely
  • May you kiss instead of arguing sometimes, because kisses solve a multitude of ills
  • May you guffaw
  • May you feel the thrill of simply holding hands
  • May you have long silly conversations into whatever o'clock
  • May you smile often
  • Make beautiful,heartwarming memories
  • May you spend lots of time with beautiful children, they know what life is about
  • Enjoy your siblings, they know you best and are the people you spend the most time with in your life (That's pretty awesome)
  • May you love deeply
  • May you bring light wherever you go
  • May you realise that bad days are just that and it is not a bad life
  • Drink water
  • Eat your veggies
  • Take long walks
  • Let GO of that which no longer serves you
  • Realise that you're amazing
  • Have faith
  • Own your Awesome!!

Merry Christmas you beauties.

M-Series: For my sister

My older sister is hilarious! She's uber cynical and has had the least interest in all this Madiba stuff.

All her conspiracy theories aside, why I did this post with her in mind is the thoughts of Mandela's great sense of humour and his love of beautiful women and of course of the Xhosa type. My sister is all of the above.

So let's raise a glass to Tata, who was always up for a good laugh and to my sister who really can see humour in almost everything. It has surely been her saving grace.

Love and belly laughs. They are the perfect and ceaseless elixir of our lives.

M-Series: For My Boyfriend

Well my dearest love does not know that he inspired this series. His immense admiration for this great leader and global icon really made me consider this series for my blog. So I thought it fitting to start with him.

So it begins...

My boyfriend is the consummate athlete (no I'm not showing off, but I am most proud). He is not only an Olympian, but he has a serious fixation with most things sport and fitness related. While being infinitely sexy, it speaks volumes about discipline, competition, sportsmanship, commitment, strength (not just physical, but mental). Frankly, a plethora of other elements intrinsic to being a sportsman.

Firstly I was so happy that I was with him when we heard the new of Madiba's passing. Most auspicious moment, albeit a sad one, but I was so glad to be able to share this epic moment in history with him. It's definitely one of those moments in life where you will be saying one day in the future, "Where were you?''...

Reading about and remembering Madiba has lead me to draw many parallels with this great man and my man who has greatness in him.

Mandela's views on sport however, encapsulate a lot of what I think is so essential to the link I draw between these two men. Also while Mandela was often an absent father due to the struggle, his children were very important to him. As a grandfather however, he was such a super parent to his grandchildren who he took under his care.

Watch this video of the speech Mandela gave at the first Laureas Lifetim Achievement Awards... Sport has the power to change the world. I know a certain special Mister who would agree.

This is so beautiful and just says everything. Captures it all.

What will your contribution be? The race is so long and this life is seemingly some sort of relay.. What baton are you carrying? Will you drop it or will you hand it over...

Be a sport...

M - Series

Wow! So the day has come finally. Funny how I thought I'd be more prepared for this day, but driving into work this morning, wishing I was rather making my way to FNB Stadium with the many people from all over the world for the memorial service of this great man.

Feeling teary and extremely nostalgic. It almost feels like the end of something, but there's this sense of a burgeoning beginning of sorts.

I've decided to do a little blog series over the next few days to celebrate the life of Mandela through the eyes of different people, largely special people in my life.

I hope you enjoy the series.

Hamba kahle Qawe.

Pottering about

Though I didn't work it like a supermodel, I too rocked it pared down for the airport. Definitely no make up, but I don't model for CK in spare time. hihi

So I am exhausted after getting off a flight from Lagos this morning. It's too short to get decent sleep, but long enough for you to doze off fitfully, so I got back in this morning, slipped on my pj's and had a little nap before I had to head out and get ready for work.

Blooming marvellous. Every little bit

As I struggled to get out of bed on this beautiful overcast morning, it really had me thinking about time off work and how I'm going to spend it in my house and what I'm going to add where.

I'm going to be hitting my local nursery and spending some serious time there getting me hands wonderfully dirty. I'm perhaps going to get them to help me with my attempts at a successful terranium too... Mmm so excitesies!

I've got some allergies to pollen, but this article got me a thinking. Doesn't a girl just luurve some options.

It's been a looong year, so how are you going to relax and soothe your body and soul?! I love getting back to nature, even if it's bringing it inside and outside my house in this case.

Monday...16 Days till Christmas!! Eeek! Excited!

LOVE

I had the best evening last night. I was chatting with my little 4 month old bestlets and my oh my were there chuckles last night. I'm still laughing thinking about it. All I could think was I am SO in love, these little bunnies have stolen my heart and really I don't want it back. There is nothing I wouldn't do for them, except if they're teens and it's dangerous, but my heart is taken.

Made me think about love in all its splendour. Can love for adults be this all consuming and course through ever synapse. Perhaps, but I think big babies don't come to us perfectly packaged right. Babies are perfect, that is without a doubt.

But our bigger selves, we fall in love and we see perfection in each other imperfections. There is that thing that makes it worth it.Love perhaps?

It's the most wonderful time of the year

Advent Calender

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling a little weary and jittery all at once. It's that lead up to the festively festive season, which really is one of my faves honestly. I can sense it in the office even, people are a little restless, like the need to put your feet up and potter around is far outweighing the need for the final push towards the end of the year. Oh and what a push it is, I must say.

Looking particularly forward to the holidays this year. Heaven knows, but super excited. New babies, the precious little twinlets, can't wait to see how they see us into the festive season, soooo cute those little bunnies. This Faunty is so in love. Such serious spoiling is to happen here, I can't help myself.

What are you looking forward to this season?

I'm really in the spirit, even bought a series of Christmas albums this weekend.

Tis the season people!!

Awesome xx
