Hair today...gone tomorrow

Wistful waves and monochrome...In my dreams.

Okay exams are over. Now time to  deal with this hair that is too toe up to mention. haha! What to do though? Short, long...Super short...Ooh I have an obsession with scissors!Woohoo!Scissors! We are desperately short of hair magicians here in J- section. For my hair at least!
Well in my dreams would my hair look this good, but this is inspiration!

Eek, so now I'm sitting here, taking a risk, mid length!!Woohoo. Let's try this out.

After a shocking day, new hair is what a girl needs. Crossing fingers!! Eek!

Channeling a little Alexa Chung? Why not?!

MINDS not mines!

This is my little bookwurm self.
I'm busy studying, (see inspirational pic above). Not minding it too much at all, strangely enjoying. For a variety of reasons, some which Bailey can attest to.

So this is me, in pursuit of more education, expanding my mind, learning new things, not only because it interests me, but also keeps me sane and it's important to keep learning.RIGHT?!

The more we learn, the less we are bothered with petty things, the less we can be occupied by useless mindless musings and the less trouble we are inclined to cause. (Insert ANCYL chaos here). Education is an integral part of the fabric of society. When people know better they can do better. So why the heck are youth leaguers burning the flag of the political party that gave birth to their right to protest even?! Because they know nothing. More than that, they choose to know nothing.Cowardly ignorance. What a danger! That means, no accountability and their "leaders" (unfortunate word to use in relation to juju, but none the less...), will hide in the shadows, so they do not have to responsible for or even vaguely acknowledge the ridiculous, hooligan, party flag burning that their followers are up to. Really, is it not blatantly ridiculous to burn the flag of your party!? Think about it? Oops maybe that's the problem and has always been the problem, NO THINKING. No schooling and maybe many a parent is hiding now at the obvious lack of NO HOME TRAINING!

The ANCYL's current theme song is nationalisation. They say it all the time, but I doubt how many can actually spell it. I've long been baffled why they YOUTH leagues chief concern is Mines and NOT MINDS!! How are we to be a better country when we know NOTHING!?Almost everyone(except the juju-sphere) knows the detrimental effects of nationalisation, you can see the results the world over or we just look over our holy fence at our neighbour, uncle Bobby!

A couple of weeks after the London riots, the problem of uneducated youth is seemingly universal, but it is still not acceptable. The UK developed a term for it N E E T, but clearly they haven't neatened up their situation. And once again, it all comes down to education.

It's time for me to get back to my books now, but so much to think about.

Learning is about how we change!

"Epithet"

This is me swooning over that word! WOW! Over the guy who said that word just now! Just got off the phone with my friend who wins the super sexy award of the month, perhaps year. EXPANSIVE VOCABULARY is sexy! For those of you who didn't know. Geeks are the sexiest guys!

Well geek has always been sexy!Guys who know lots of stuff are hot!

Not only did he say "epithet", he just placed this gorgeous linguistic gem in THE most appropriate context. SWOON SWOON!And all this peppered with the ever so slight british lilt.. (This is me swooning again). I personally have no words, just endless sighs over this experience. I would have asked him to marry me on the spot, if I wasn't waiting for my invitation to his wedding (hurry up and propose already!) to one of the most all encompassingly gorgeous women we've both met!

Really Edward you have rendered me blissfully speechless!

Definitely B for BRAVO

Surprise call from a great friend peppered with vocabulary gems! Saturday WIN! Made my day!

Note for the day: Great words from great men = SUPER SEXY!

hello spring...is that you?

The weather is gorgeous today!WHY AM I INSIDE?! Funny this weather just makes you wanna fall in love, even if you are in love, fall in love, all over again... Isn't that a lovely thought. Sunshine, spring, blossoms and blossoming love. And thanks to Bailey , I have discovered (hihi) my dream wardrobe to go on my spring flings(I actually mean dates, but flings sounds so much better).

Courtesy of Reiss, and their floral explosion, I'd be stylishly girly and  fabulously flirty, for the boy of my dreams!

Lunch date or summer movie night at Bryant Park

Getting to know you meet for tea blazer with a white tee and cropped chinos maybe?

Ooh romantic dinner dress! I think I like you.

Say something, say something...

That always makes me laugh, because we discovered one day that this is what my father's car screams if you brake too hard suddenly and hold onto the steering wheel for support. That's how far cars have come, that they check if you're awake. I still wonder if it will call the paramedics if you don't say something. haha

How I digress...but I was reminded of  this when I saw this incredible project by Improveverywhere, Say Something Nice...They put a lectern in New York City, with a loudspeaker and a sign saying SAY SOMETHING NICE...

How incredible is that? SO think about this...and say something nice today. Even if it's just to yourself.

Tossed

Still on a mastication go slow. Slowly inching my way back to the world of masticators! EEK! My next heart felt craving is for a great salad! Yumo!

Fresh greens, crunchy rocket, fresh feta. Tangy rosa tomatoes and of course avo! With some great warm crusty bread of course! Having visions of Bailey's favourite salad, the Village salad at Espresso's yum!

This looks mighty Village Salad - esque.

Mm dice up that cucumber, drizzle that vinaigrette, toast my ciabatta and serve me my salad, well tossed please!
Interesting take on Waldorf Salad.

Crusty comfort

Well since mastication is a bit of a foreign concept in my life at the moment, I've had a lot of time to marvel at firstly:

* How well stocked up I am in the fat reserves department! Yikes, I could not eat for a while and keep going.

* Secondly how I'm wishing for the simplest of things. Like a slice of warm, crusty bread with butter. Yum! Real butter, not that one molecule short of plastic margarine crudder eeuw! Real butter, with that soft, salty, creamy texture, against that fresh bread with a gorgeous crust. The butter mustn't be completely melted though. Ooh bliss on a side plate.

Munching musings

I'm sick! I have a stomach bug.Something I've never had in my life, though the vaguely aniseedy taste of Flagyl took me back to a childhood stomach ache! I have a stomach bug! Don't recall having this in my adult life. Wow! I haven't eaten in 2 days! How do people do this voluntarily!?

I'm getting increasingly scared to eat though. The less I keep down the more afraid I become of eating anything, but sparkling water, because that's the only thing staying down right now.

Since I can't even keep orange juice down at the moment, now that I have a little energy, I'm thinking about what I'd like to eat if I could eat..

I'm sure this will make me feel better. Chocolate always does.

Not even a huge egg fan, but this "Spanglish" sandwich looks delicious!

Asparagus with feta...yum!!I would just drizzle a little olive oil over and lemon!Yum!!

The blueberries make this for me.

I don't ordinarily eat cheese, but this platter looks all cray cray kinds of amazing! I wouldn't even use cutlery!

Wash it down with a Freezo, iced -tea or a hot chocolate. Decisions, decisions.

But for now...guess it's time for some more electrolytes for dinner. Mm..let's go for black currant I say.

Office politics

We work in an open plan office. well so do a lot of people, but ours does not seem to have the kind of office decorum usually observed in an open plan environment. So some of us IM a lot. So you will hear a lot of little discreet chuckles dotted around the office at the different desks of all those involved in the banter. But since our screens aren't exactly shielded behind those little middle of the desk divider things, we have come up with names for some of the office offenders!

Strangely all the nicknames we have for these offenders have landed up being SA political figures. We matched the office offender and their disruption to a political figure who may have similar traits. Thus we have:

                1. A Vavi

   2. Politics isn't politics without a JUJU (Though the real Malema is far brighter than our version)

      3. And a Zille of course!

             4.  A Lindiwe Sisulu

5. Oh wait, we even have a Zuma

Private...number

So I was wondering if I'm weird and if anyone else does this...

If my phone rings and I've just got out the shower and I see either my bosses or male colleagues  numbers calling me, I have to get decent first before I answer my phone. Often I just call back. I don't have a video phone, but that kinda stuff just creeps me out, talking to men whilst naked and in all my freshly showered glory. NOOOOO WAAAY!

Just seems rude in a way.Actually anyone who's a stranger really I don't take their calls unless I'm in some condition of satisfactory modesty.

Wonder if I'm the only one that does this...

Happy Women's day

On my ideal women's day, which really should be one day a week for each of us I think, this is what I'd spend my day doing:

I like big books and I cannot lie! (Pic take from here)

I'd wake up and do some reading, maybe in the morning or in the late afternoon sun.

I'd like to have this kitchen and I'd spend a good part of my day cooking and baking in it. Aah bliss.

I'd grab pieces of my favourite fabrics and make a few scatter cushions like this. No sewing, no cutting, just folding and knotting. I can do that.

I would have this grown up toasted cheese as a snack or a meal or whatever, but that would definitely feature in my ideal day!

I'd try something new.

Towers

I love the way this song starts! I could listen to it for a while! I've had it on repeat all morning and every time I hear it I have to hold back the tears.. Bon Ivers - Towers...great track.

Discovered this track, thanks to the lovely Bailey who often drops me some of the best little bits of musical beauty!

Between work an school and work work and school work and individual assignments and group assignments and tests and trying to see my friends and have a social life, let's not even mention love life?!huh?! Who'd want to be with me, when I'm not sure when last I saw myself!? Makes me a great date!Might fall asleep at the table!

Anyone say holiday?! I'm in need! Even time away from the office might do the trick.Wait, it will do the trick!

Yes please! I can be here! (Image taken from Pinterest)

I want to be sitting here reading RIGHT NOW!
